What changed hands?
Game of Thrones Iron Throne. Cast from the same mold as the original on-screen prop. Over 300 pounds. Part of a sold-out event co-hosted with HBO.
A throne cast from the original mold
The touring Iron Throne was cast from the same mold as the on-screen prop used in Game of Thrones. Over 300 pounds and measuring roughly eight feet tall, it was one of several replicas produced for promotional tours during the show's run from 2011 to 2019. The $1.49 million result made it the most expensive single lot in the sale.
Over $21 million in a single event
The Game of Thrones auction at Heritage Auctions in Dallas comprised over 900 lots and grossed more than $21.1 million, making it the largest entertainment memorabilia sale in the auction house's history. Co-hosted with HBO, the event sold out entirely. The Iron Throne's six-minute bidding war was the headline result.
Read the number carefully
An auction result captures a particular object, a particular sale and the buyers competing on that occasion. It does not establish the value of every similar object, or what this one would sell for today.
Our selection keeps historical results separate from asking prices and estimates. Where the cited report does not break out fees, we say so rather than inventing a hammer price.

What does “source reviewed” mean?
We checked the published report against the amount and object listed here. That does not independently authenticate the object or confirm settlement of the transaction.
