THE STORIES BEHIND EXTRAORDINARY PRICES
MILLIONLORE.

OUR STANDARD

A big number needs
a clear explanation.

Our method for this opening edition.

What we include

Selected historical auction results supported by an auction house’s report. Follow-ups may use museum or manufacturer documentation. Each story links its evidence and names the date and currency.

What a ranking means

Rankings order only the items explicitly included. This edition compares nominal USD results, without inflation adjustment. It is not a complete survey of the market or an assertion of current world records. Different price bases are disclosed; they are not silently standardized.

Sale, estimate, or asking price?

These are different facts. An estimate describes an expectation; an asking price is a seller’s request; a reported sale result records an outcome. We never substitute one for another.

Fees and currencies

A hammer bid and a total including buyer’s premium can differ substantially. We retain the source’s basis. Missing fee information remains unknown. A later euro-denominated sale is discussed separately, not converted using today’s exchange rate.

Checking evidence

Reviewing a source does not independently authenticate an object, audit the auction house, or prove that payment settled. Dates on our pages distinguish the sale from our source review.

Corrections

The public submission channel is not open in this local edition. Before publication we will provide a working contact, use our publication byline, MillionLore Editorial, and log substantive corrections with dates and supporting sources.

Editorial independence

There are no affiliate links, paid placements, or active advertisements here. Advertising is a proposed future funding source. Commercial arrangements must not determine rank order or alter reported results.
